Advocates for Health, Education and Economic Development:
AHEAD for Rural and Urban Underserved Communities

AHEAD California was formed to protect and improve the health and economic conditions for populations living in urban and rural underserved communities.

We move health and economic development initiatives forward by advancing local solutions and statewide policy, linking people and resources, and removing barriers to access. Examples of issues we currently address include:

Healthcare reform, coverage and health access: reducing disparities in health indicators, coverage and in health access; integration of healthcare services.

Emerging technologies benefiting community and individual health, such as eHealth, telehealth, 211 call centers, mobility management and communications.

Regional and local economic and workforce investment initiatives creating educational opportunities and jobs, including within the healthcare workforce.

Enhancing and supporting existing best practice prevention initiatives, including injury prevention, oral health, premature birth, infectious disease/vaccines, obesity/good nutrition and lifestyles, and smoking cessation; and initiatives addressing the social determinants of health.
